Attention: Students Physical Therapists and Student Physical Therapist Assistants
The MPTA Special Interest Group for Clinical Education would like to invite final year SPTs and SPTAs to nominate their clinical instructors for the Outstanding Clinical Instructor Award which is presented annually at the MPTA Fall conference for excellence in clinical instruction.
If you feel that you would like to nominate your clinical instructor for their outstanding achievements, please applications can be obtained from Susan Allaben -- allabens@gvsu.edu . Request by Friday May 16 and return to Susan by Monday June 2, 2008.
MPTA Outstanding Student Award
Every year the Michigan Physical Therapy Association solicits recommendations for "Outstanding Student" from all physical therapy and physical therapy assistant programs. These awards are intended for students who:
- are in the final year of their professional curriculum
- have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2
- are a member of the APTA/MPTA
- have demonstrated "outstanding" participation in academic, professional and related community activities.

Central Michigan University students Jana C. Berry, SPT and Julia A. Kreiner, SPT, have won the Section on Geriatrics, APTA’s annual consumer brochure contest. Jana and Julia created a brochure to educate patients called Tips for Exercising in Hot and Cold Weather." new window

. Jana and Julia have won one year’s free membership in the Section on Geriatrics.Jana and Julia participated in the contest as part of a requirement for their "Teaching and Learning in Physical Therapy" course instructed by Elizabeth Mostrom, P.T., PhD.
